“It is our duty to fight for our freedom. It is our duty to win.
We must love each other and support each other. We have nothing to lose but our chains”
— Assata Shakur
Community organizing and activism isn’t all protest and voter registration drives. There are lots of ways to support the work being done, depending on your interests and abilities. While we have frequent education and organizing meetings, we also have plenty of ways to help out that don’t necessarily require your presence at meetings.
- GOTV – Get out the vote and voter registration efforts
- Outreach and New Membership – Reaches out to individuals and organizations across Southern New Jersey to encourage them to join our efforts.
- Community Interactions and Events – Plans and coordinates activities and events that strengthen our community and support our neighbors.
- Legislative Action – Develops and coordinates a variety of ongoing campaigns directed at our elected officials at the local, state and federal levels.
- Door Knocking – Connects with our neighbors all over SJ to hear their fears and concerns and unite them through neighborhood meetings.
- Research – Collects information on legislation and elected officials to assemble and inform talking points, letters to the editor, and help the Coalition plan action campaigns.
- Protest Art – Creates signs, buttons, t-shirts, banners, posters, flyers, etc.
- Ongoing Discussions, Trainings, and Workshops – We believe in the power of an informed public.
- Local politics education workshops
- Know Your Rights training
- Education groups
- Examining Whiteness: a non-POC anti-racism education group
